My specific efforts in Oceans and Human Health have focused on evaluating the interface between water and beach sands and risks associated with microbes and chemicals within this zone. Prior to this my focus was on evaluating the links between health and pressure treated wood, in particular wood treated with a preservative called chromated copper arsenate (CCA). I have also worked on research focused on the hydrology of the east Everglades, the major source of drinking water to Miami-Dade County.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_23\" style=\"width: 650px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/hmsolo.miami.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/screen-shot-2014-08-25-at-11-37-50-am.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-23\" class=\"size-full wp-image-23\" src=\"https:\/\/hmsolo.miami.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/screen-shot-2014-08-25-at-11-37-50-am.png\" alt=\"Caption: Children\u2019s sandbox made with preservative treated wood.
